Silk Leapord Print Dress

I made this dress and only wore it once this summer. It has a scalloped hem. In theory it looked cute but it was sort of strange in reality. It originally went down to my ankles but now it goes to about my knee

I ended up only wearing it once, but I haven't worn it again since I shortened it.

I didnt use a pattern on this dress wither, but i should have, the tube part of the dress was too loose and uneven.

Sewing a wardrobe: Snake Skin Print Dress

Posted: October 31st, 2009 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: Current Affairs, DIY, fashion, sewing, style | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

This dress is a silk stretch. i made it before i got my serger so i had to work really hard to maintain the elasticity o the fabric, since stitched tend to break on stretch fabrics.

I never wear it with heels, usually flip flops but its a really soft breathable dress. Whats nice about the silk is that it doesnt make the print look shiny or weird. It could go tacky very quickly with blends.

I used no pattern btw. But becuase I liked the way this tuned out Im going to make one based off of tis with 5/8 seam allowances.

Built By Wendy 3966 Finished Coat!

Posted: October 30th, 2009 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: DIY, Famous Friends, fashion, sewing, style | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

I planned on making this Built By Wendy 3966 coat all summer and its finally finished! I bought the black wool coating from the Fabric Depot and  I bought purple wool from a local store on the Lower East Side. I read that the coat was boxy on the Streets and Yo's blog. So I used the shawl collar from a cardigan pattern I got from Burdastyle called the Esther. I made it into a foldover coat and added belt. I used the short version and left out the front placket.

I think i have seen this girl a thousand times in Brooklyn, oh wait, she lives in Bruxelles. Apparently the horrendous hair piled on top of the head of a chick making the "who? me?" pose has traveled around the fucking world

These boys however have my heart

Growing up I didnt fantasize about weddings. I fantasized about running away.   It only makes sense that when I thought of marriage the word elope came to mind.

John Derian The fancy Decoupage plates that make me happy, and other ex boyfriends

Somebody I dated gave me a John Derian plate for christmas, while most of my friends scoffed at the thought of getting a plate with the letter R on it, I thought I was one of the nicest, most thoughtful gifts ever. Almost as good as the college boyfriend that made me a tool box and fulled it with tools. He makes furniture now in Hudson

Posted: October 3rd, 2009 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: Cool Tool, Craft, Current Affairs, DIY, How to, Locally Made | Tags: , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Cmon kids we can do this branding and all, below are the product specs

" 3Sixteen

3sixteen Leather Bracelet – Single Strand

  • Heavyweight English Bridle Leather
  • Finished Sides
  • Made by Tanner Goods (Portland, OR)
  • .5" Wide

A great simple leather bracelet made of a heavy duty solid leather that's sure to age well with wear.

S = 8" (men's skinny wrist or women's size)
L = 8."

My bf told me these guys are going to hate me but whatevs.

This is a link to instructables how to make a leather bracelet from an old belt  and a video tutorial on how to brand leather.

I would suggest visiting my favorite leather goods store  Tandyleather for the supplies.

If you live in NYC try Kufman Shoe Supply, they are the best largest wholesaler in NYC, or Pearl Crafts
