I hate hate, hate looking for bag patterns and finding things I wouldn't even give away to my grandma. Mix match and be bold, you can end up with something you might actually want to take out of the house and show off.
Start with these:
KwikSew Clutch: Pretty basic right? Well you could end up with something cool, buy vintage fabrics or if your close to one head over to ikea they have great affordable textiles that actually go on sale and are modern

Charlie Grocery Bag: Love Love Love this bag. use heavier fabric, consider lining it and adding snaps to close it, this is by fay the simplest pattern I have found.

Wasp Bag: haven't made it but I will soon. Apparently this bag started a little movement among bag makers and crafters alike, there are groups devoted to it.

Poopy Envelope Clutch: the most versatile of the bunch this site offers three versions sew and no sew!

I just adore concrete and honey, in this post she highlights her sister Brie's new apartment. i definitely aspire to this quiet elegance. Unfortunately my bedroom is my studio so most of the time it looks like a complete mess. Bits of fabric and leather everywhere
"My little sis has the most amazing style. We got our love for beautiful things from our mum, but while mum's taste is more classic – think cream & beige, linen, neutrals, French provencale, PURE STYLE – Brie's is vintage/modern/quirky…she mixes little monsters with pretty vintage teacups, she props a Balinese umbrella against a wall, hangs a chandelier over a dining table with modern soft egg Driade chairs (a brand she can pronounce with Italian confidence due to the years she worked at Space in Sydney and Yoo in London). Hers is a style I admire more than anyone's…this is her new little home…welcome to the tour."

A boss of mine gave me this great orange pincushion a couple of years
ago. I still use the pincushion today, and a couple of days ago i was
inspired to figure out how exactly to make one. i looked like once i
figured it out it would be easy. As it turns out, it is.
Instructions:
Cut a single 4 inch circle on a doubled layer of cloth, here I used bright pink felt

Sew the circle almost shut with a tight stitch, i left about an inch opening. you need it open to turn it inside out and for the next step

Turn inside out

Stuff! I used regular pillow and cushion batting, its cheap and comes in big bags
Sew shut with a regular needle and matching yarn, here were trying to hide the stitching.

I used an embroidery needle and purple embroidery thread to make the threat. if you don't have embroidery threat r a needle it son, you can use regular thread.
- Start by putting the needle through the center of your cushion
bring needle all the way around to the other side and push through the
center again. continue around the cushion five or six times. Knot it off
I put a button I made in the middle to finish the cushion and hide my stitching.

Viola, your very own pin cushion.
