And  thought that animal medicine was only really for making special k, the reduction of access and in many cases complete block of access is producing horrific consequences. A recent New York Times article looked into how hispanic  women in Washington heights  are using  distributing pills to end unwanted pregnancy

" Women have been using alternative methods to end unwanted pregnancies
for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Some high school girls in
rural Wisconsin have been using vetinary medicine and the right blames medical abortion.

The drugs [intended to abort livestock], kept on farms for management of
livestock under the names Prostaglandins, Cystorelin, Factrel,
Gonadorelin or Lutalyse, were being ingested orally in large

Cool tool Ponoko: Make a laser cut lamp or Jewelry

Posted: April 2nd, 2009 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: Cool Tool, Craft, DIY, Machines, Make This Now, Weblogs | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

LaserLamp

Ponoko lets you design all kinds of items, from wine racks to laser cut antlers to eco friendly flat pack furniture
below s a tutorial that would help you create a lase- cut lamp.

"thought of creating a simple but stylish lamp that could be
personalized with your own patterns and images. Lamps are great objects
because they allow you to play with light and potentially project
shapes across an entire room. Laser cutting is perfect for creating
this type of object because it allows you to get a really high quality
finish and fairly precise detail while keeping costs as low as
possible."

The New Kid on the block: Brooklyn Standard from the dude that brought you Papacitos

Posted: April 2nd, 2009 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: Brooklyn, Famous Friends, Food and Drink, Locally Made, events | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Standard

"Owner Cody Utzman opens eateries with the same frequency the rest of us
buy new cell phones. We included his restaurant Papacitos

The project actually started as a sit-down restaurant called simply,
The Standard, but Utzman re-thought the appeal of $20 a plate entrees
in light of the current economy, coming to the conclusion that what
Greenpointers really want is a source for convenient, but responsible
snacks. “You look on the shelves of most stores in this neighborhood,
and everywhere, and it’s just 40 different flavors of colored corn
syrup,” says Utzman."
