Growing plants made easy: DIY Apartment garden from Apartment Therapy CheekyStitch blog, Gardening Blog

2007_10_29herbs

This is pretty straight forward and you can grow them indoors when basil shoots up to 7 dollars a bunch youll be grateful

"Basil, thyme, sage. These are indispensable herbs, and they grew in abundance on our front stoop all summer. It's too cold outdoors now, but we don't like paying $2.50 per packet at the supermarket.
Fortunately it's not difficult to grow these herbs indoors – even in a tiny kitchen.
One big pot, some potting soil, and a few herb plants are all you need. You should also have a sunny spot; the herbs will need plenty of direct sunshine.
Step-by-step pictures below..".

"Last winter after breaking out the serious cold weather gear, I found
myself fighting the coat rack next to the front door. It was, to put it
bluntly, failing miserably. Tipping over, breaking off, it was a mess.
I swore before the next winter I would drive some serious hooks into
the wall that would handle all my heavy overcoat needs. I just haven't
seen any kickass hooks yet that I liked enough to justify making
serious holes in my walls
."

OH MY GOD: a brief Journey in my search of the G-O-D, and how George Carlin Changed my life, Part 1 CheekyStick Craft Blog, Cheekystitch God Blog, CheekyStich Religions blog

Carlindogma

My relationship with god began at
Academia Los Pinares: a Christian missionary school located in Tegucigalpa Honduras

It was a very conservative missionary school run for the children of
the elite, to them black people were a myth and gays were going to
hell, and trolls too, you know.
What I learned? Jesus is a scary
motherfucker, and most missionaries were dicks, yes dicks. I had huge
hair even then.  I didnt hate gay people, I knew gay people, liked
gay people. Most of what I was taught about modesty, my role/future as
a woman, and how I would obtain salvation or achieve damnation
seemed fucked up.

My cousins went to El Liceo Militar Del Norte, a military school in
San Pedro Sula, that put a gun in my cousin's,  borderline
personality hands. I could always count on her to wake me up in the
middle of the night with a knife or something, threatening violence
over her mothers affection.

The Dodless ( Leti) threatened me with mortal violence, while the
God fearing ( Los PInares) Spooked me out with stories of deamon's,
which I immediatly filed under  the boogie man, the due that lived
under my bed, homeboy in the closet and the creepy tales from the crypt
gimp.

In my house my grandmother practiced Santeria, an afro Yoruba
tradition of worshipping  catholic saints which represented
African gods. This is a religion that was spreads why enslaved African
along the trans Atlantic slave route

DIY Birdhouses: Apartment therapy and Habana Outpost are kinda into birds, not in the English sense. Cheekystitch blog, Birdhouse blog

88cardboardbirdhouse

At my job at Habana Outpost , I generally do marketing and event planning, office work, gardening, and a little bartending.
I also schedule events for our Kids Corner, we do Eco friendly crafts. We bought these DIY birdhouses for the kids to decorate. It was pretty fun and messy as hell. But the childlings seemed to Like it. The house shows above was the best to decorate.

"There’s something about this we really like. While at first glance we
didn’t think cardboard would be sturdy enough for a house, even one for
birds, we remembered just how light birds are, and think that as long
as this was in a covered spot, it’d be lovely."

Satchel of Gravel: Do it yourself Streetwear Company Parody makes me laugh so hard I threw up on your all over print, OHHH art.. CheekyStitch Streetwearblog, Cheelystitch Craft blog

Posted: August 8th, 2008 | Author: raven burgos | Filed under: Brooklyn, DIY, Famous Friends, How to, Music, hater, parody | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Imelda

Satchel of gravel makes me smile for all sorts of reasons but this was how i fell in love with them

Thats right kids, DIY streetwear below

Well take off that all over polka dot New Era fitted and loosen your
bandana because we’re going to show you how to get PAID, by starting
you own streetwear label in 10 easy steps.

1. Come up with an ironic name that only you and your immediate
circle of friends will get. This way, when you “blow up” you can talk
about the roots of the name in blog interviews.

2. Create a logo. Or even better, just re-appropriate someone
else’s. Go through your collection of mid-90s rap CDs, find the ones
that made you feel extra tough in front of your bedroom mirror and jack
the artist’s font. If you’re really not trying to do all that, then
just use one of the songs you like. Practically the whole streetwear
scene has gotten their brand identity this way.

3. Create a website. It’s important that you do this BEFORE you
actually have any product. This way, you can get people hyped about the
debut of your line (which reminds me, our new line of tees will be
dropping soon.) Promote the hell out of it by creating multiple account
names on popular street wear blogs and the making multiple posts about
your brand.

Fight for your Right: You though we woudnt notice calls out rampant design stealing, CheekyStitch design blog

2636125374_e2c8893173_2

This website is dedicated to calling design thieves of all kinds out on their collective shit, its a platform that original artist have established for themselves to support/rant about "THE  MAN" of their understanding

I told a couple of my corporate design friends about the site and its content and  the response was pretty much a unison shoulder shrug and a flippant "everybody does it"

Dicks.
